The "Export Codebook" function lets you automatically generate a codebook that lists all or selected codes in the order of the Code System, including the associated code memo for each code. The codebook therefore contains the category definition of each individual code, as long as it was recorded in the code memo. This saves significant effort when creating the appendix for a research report, especially since it ensures a consistent font for all memo text.
The codebook is generated in Word document format and can be opened with any standard word processing program. It includes a cover page with the title "Codebook," the project name, and the creation date. On the following page, the Code System is displayed in a table. In the main section, the codes with their associated memos are listed in the order of the Code System.
You can access the Codebook function via the menu Reports > Codebook. A window will appear where you can specify the Codebook options in detail.

In the top section of the window, you can specify which codes should be included in the Codebook.
Only codes with code memos - Excludes any codes that do not have a memo.
Only top-level codes - Includes only the top-level codes from the Code System, along with their memos. Subcodes are not included.
Only activated codes - Includes only the activated codes in the Codebook. You can also choose whether inactive subcodes should be included (Include subcodes). This option is not available if "Only top-level codes" is selected.
Additional options can be set in the lower section:
Standardize memo fonts - Ensures that all memos are displayed with a uniform font, size, and style.
Number codes - Numbers the listed codes according to their hierarchy in the Code System.
Include parent code in code name - Displays the full code path as a heading for subcodes.
Include code summaries - Adds any existing code summaries to the Codebook, displayed alongside the respective codes.
Export code system with frequencies - Adds a column to the Code System table showing the frequency of each code.
After confirming your settings, choose a file name and location. The Codebook will then be created and opened.
