MAXDAYS21

What are the goals of MAXDAYS21?

MAXDAYS aims to connect MAXQDA fans from all around the world. It is organized by VERBI Software GmbH, the developer and distributor of the world-leading software package for qualitative and mixed methods research. Over two days, March 23 and 24, 2021, attendees will have the possibility to meet the brightest minds in the field of qualitative data analysis, get insights into exciting MAXQDA research projects and connect with each other.

Who is this conference for?

MAXDAYS will be free of charge and invites students, MAXQDA newbies and loyal MQIC-attendees alike to exchange their ideas and best practices.

Where will MAXDAYS21 take place?

MAXDAYS will be held on the event platform Hopin, where attendees can visit different stages, sessions, exhibition booths and switch between them freely. Besides the conference-like feeling, we also chose the platform for the social factor. In the networking area, participants meet randomly and get to know each other in an exciting way. By creating their own profile beforehand, they can display their business and contact details and stay connected to other attendees after the event.

FAQs Hopin Event

  • Eventplatform

For our virtual conference MAXDAYS21 we are using the online events platform Hopin. Let us show you, how you can find your way around this venue.

  • Areas

Imagine Hopin to be a small conference house with various rooms, that you are free to “hop in”. The house consists of a reception, stage and the session, the networking and expo area.

    1. Reception is the virtual reception hall. Here you will find general information about the event and the agenda. All other areas can be found on the left side. If an area is marked with “live”, the event is currently taking place in this area according to the agenda.
    2. Stage is the place where you can catch the welcome speech by CEO Anne Kuckartz and COO Isabel Kuckartz.
    3. The Sessions area is the place where all the Spotlight Sessions are going to be held. You can choose between at least 42 different Spotlight Sessions in 8 different languages! Please note that some of them are running parallel – We are spoiling you with the choice! To help you find a specific session, set the filter to your language or speaker of choice in the “Search Segment” bar. Just click onto the session and you are able to join it. If you have any questions to the speaker, please type them into the Chat on the right side. We will do our best to answer as fast as possible.
    4. Have you ever tried speed dating? Give it a try, in the Networking area! For three minutes each you have the chance to talk to other MAXDAYS21 participants and share your ideas and virtual business cards by clicking the “connect” button. The allocation is random and you will be connected to each person only once. Your profile acts as a business card here, so feel free to enrich it with a photo and your contact details! Exchanged business cards can be found afterwards in your account in the connections section.
    5. The Expo area is the place to be if you want to chat with some company representatives or discover more possibilities with MAXQDA. Listen to our MAXQDA Press author talk, get to know the MAXQDA research network or learn more about the trainer or partner certification.
  • Additional functions

The event chat is the global chat of the event, where all participants can communicate with each other. Everyone can see all comments – the comments of the organizers are highlighted. In addition, each session and each booth in the exhibition have an extra chat. Here, only those people can see what is written who are also in that area.

In the networking area there is a chat that only you and your current networking partner can see. Here you can also exchange e-mail addresses with each other, for example. If you see a chat marked with an orange dot, it means that there are new comments.

Participants or direct messages – here you can see all guests of the event. Everyone can send personal messages to another participant in this section. To do so, click on a profile in the Participants tab and then send a message or invite the person to a private video conversation.

Under Polls you will find questions posted by us that you are welcome to answer. Again, an orange dot means that a new poll has been posted.

Hopin FAQs

  • Which browser is best to use?

Please use Chrome or Firefox for the best user experience.

  • How can I register?

Your access link will take you directly to the event page in Hopin.

If you do not yet have a personal account at Hopin, you will be asked to create one in advance. For this purpose, you will need an e-mail address and a password, which you can choose as you wish.

Once you are registered, you will be taken to the event page. You may need to click on the access link again to get to the event page.

You are now registered as a participant on Hopin. If you like, add your personal information to your account to share with other participants. Your account will serve as your personal business card and can be shared with other attendees onsite.

The event page will go live one hour before the event starts on the day of the event.

  • Will I be sent a password?

No, your password can be chosen and created independently. This cannot be viewed by us and can only be customized and changed by you personally.

  • Why can’t I participate in a session?

In case of a moderated session, the moderator must first allow you to participate in the session, which may result in a short waiting period.

If this is not the case, please check if you have allowed the browser to allow Hopin access to your camera and microphone.

Otherwise, try reloading the web page, this often solves the problem.

  • I get a 404 / 500 error message – What can I do?

If you experience one of these errors, please try the following:

    • Restart your browser.
    • Reload the browser.
    • Log out of your Hopin account and log in again.
    • Restart your computer.

If none of this works, contact Hopin Support or Chat: support@hopin.com

  • Can I participate in the event from my mobile device?

Yes, you can use a mobile device to participate in the event. However, it works best via a laptop/PC.

  • I have audio/video problems

Usually, the tool will ask you what audio and video settings you want to use. Here you can try to select a different device.

If that doesn’t work, or if you aren’t asked for the settings at all, it may be because you need to first enable Hopin to access your devices in the browser.

In Chrome, you can adjust this under Settings in the Privacy and Security / Website Settings section.

MAXDAYS Spotlight Sessions

Spotlight Sessions are brief, but in-depth demonstrations of MAXQDA features, which offer insights into specific MAXQDA subject-areas. These conveniently compact training sessions give deep insights into MAXQDA features that may be new to you and build on topics you may already be familiar with. The sessions consist of a 20-minute presentation of the most important features relevant to a thematic area, followed by a short discussion. We are proud to offer 41 Spotlight sessions in 8 different languages, covering everything from basic to advanced software features.
