In this session, we will explore how MAXQDA can be used to analyze interview data. In the webinar we will focus on how interviews can be analysed with Visual Tools and Mixed Methods function. The session will provide a practical walkthrough of the key steps in the analysis process and introduce you to MAXQDA’s essential functionalities.

What if numbers revealed the patterns while participants’ voices illuminated the meanings behind them? This session explores how MAXQDA brings qualitative and quantitative data into meaningful dialogue, helping researchers integrate evidence, examine convergences and differences, and uncover deeper insights. Discover how mixed methods analysis can move research beyond isolated findings toward a richer, more nuanced, and more comprehensive understanding of the phenomenon under study.

Familiarising with data is a common initial analytic phase in many qualitative methods. This session considers how MAXQDA tools can contribute to the process, focusing on the use of paraphrasing, text exploration tools, and AI Chat as a form of reflexive practice. 

Generative AI is changing qualitative analysis, and many researchers wonder whether they can benefit from it without giving up their role as the subject of the analytical process. In this session, my answer is yes: with the right interface, benefiting from AI and remaining the subject of one’s own analysis can go together. I will show how MAXQDA supports embodied analysis, analysis in which the researcher’s contact with the data is never cut off. The session is practical and conversational, and it is suitable for both new and experienced MAXQDA users.

How can AI support the creative, iterative work of Grounded Theory without taking over the analysis? This session shows how MAXQDA’s core tools and AI Assist support key steps of Grounded Theory, from initial coding to theory building. First, you explore and reflect by getting to know the data and using AI to clarify concepts and surface your own assumptions. Then, you move on to coding and categorising through open coding with AI-suggested gerund codes and grouping them into higher-level categories. Finally, memoing and theory building involve reviewing memos for tensions, visualising relationships in MAXMaps and using AI chats to find data that challenge emerging ideas. You’ll leave with practical ideas for using AI as an assistant and as a critical friend, while keeping every insight grounded in your data.

Open-ended survey responses offer valuable opportunities for qualitative inquiry, but their analysis requires careful consideration of both methodological approach and the technologies we use. This spotlight session will explore how choosing between thematic analysis and content analysis shapes our engagement with survey data, including our assumptions about coding, interpretation and the knowledge we produce. Drawing on the concept of technological reflexivity and through selective demonstrations in MAXQDA, we will consider how software features and AI-assisted tools influence analytical decisions, and how researchers can use them thoughtfully and in keeping with their methodological commitments
