The MAXQDA International Conference will take place in Berlin from 28 February – 1 March, 2024, bringing together German and international researchers who work and teach with MAXQDA. As in previous years, the event provides valuable opportunities to network with other MAXQDA users and meet the MAXQDA development team.
This year’s conference centers on questions regarding how to optimize the use of MAXQDA in the various methodological and thematical settings of qualitative and mixed methods research. The objective of the MQIC is once again to provide researchers with a stimulating platform for substantive discussions and professional networking.
The program includes a keynote speech on methodology, various workshop formats – including highly concentrated mini-workshops – an inspiring poster presentation and awards ceremony, a Panel Discussion, and several social gatherings such as the wine and cheese networking event.

The MQIC 2024 will have a keynote address by an outstanding figure in practical ethnography, Sam Ladner, Ph.D. She recently retired from her role as the first Senior Principal Researcher at Workday. Sam has a history of firsts — she was also the first Principal Researcher at Amazon. Prior to that, she worked in various roles at Microsoft.
She is a popular public speaker at leading design and research conferences. Sam is the author of “Mixed Methods. A short guide to applied mixed methods research” and “Practical Ethnography. A Guide to Doing Ethnography in the Private Sector”. Her keynote is titled “Professional Strangers: Ethnographic Research in The Private Sector.” Learn more here.
The MQIC is a live conference that has been held every year since over a decade. After a long break of three years we are finally back and excited to welcome our community for another year of networking, learning, and inspiration. See below for comments by participants of former MQICs

“Besides the many teaching opportunities to learn MAXQDA, the conference is a great place to meet, inspire, share and network.”
Andre Morgenstern-Einenkel, Methoden-Coaching, Xanten

“The MQIC is THE must go-to event if you are working with MAXQDA. It is always a joy to meet like-minded people and to exchange ideas on methods, research topics and the usage of the software with other users. An event where you cannot only learn more about MAXQDA but also make connections with a strongly interdisciplinary field.”
Andreas Müller, Mixed Methods, Vienna
-
“The MQIC is one of my favorite conferences because of its singular focus on MAXQDA software and the ability to interact with others doing similar work. With the venue and program they develop, it is one of the easier conferences to network and talk with others.”
Timothy C. Guetterman, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI, USA

“The MQIC has been a great chance to learn from other peers and share ideas about qualitative methods. The chance to meet other people from all over the world that have the same academic interests than you is absolutely fantastic. The organization of the conference is one of the best points, they are always ready to give you a hand on any issue. I will come back for sure.”
