AI Assist is an incredibly useful tool that offers a range of functions in MAXQDA which leverage artificial intelligence to support your analysis work. By utilizing a sophisticated generative large language model, AI Assist can help you to enhance your analysis process. AI Assist automatically creates summaries of selected text or coded segments and provides suggestions for appropriate new codes subcodes. Using the AI Chat, you can also interact with your data via text input.
Currently, AI Assist offers the following features:
Summarizing uncoded data
- AI Summary: Document Summary – Automatically summarizes entire documents and saves the summary in the document memo.
- AI Summary: Highlighted Text – Automatically summarizes a selected text passage and saves the summary in an in-document memo.
- AI Paraphrase – Automatically paraphrases a selected text passage and saves it as a MAXQDA paraphrase.
Summarizing coded data
- AI Summary: Coded Segment – Automatically summarizes the contents of a coded text segment and saves the summary in the coding comment. In the Smart Coding Tool, this can also be done for a large number of coded segments at once.
- AI Summary: Code Summary – Automatically summarizes the contents of all or selected segments that have been coded with a code. The summary is saved in the code memo.
- AI Summary: Summary Grid – Automatically summarizes the text segments of a document that have been assigned to a selected code. The result is saved as a MAXQDA summary in the Summary Grid.
Suggesting codes and subcodes
- AI New Codes Suggestions – Get an inspiring list of new codes that can be assigned directly to a selected text passage.
- AI Subcode Suggestions – Get suggestions for suitable subcodes based on the contents captured with a code. The suggestions are saved in the associated code memo.
Automatic coding
- AI Coding a Document – Code a document with a code based on the code definition in the code memo.
Chat
- Chat with one Document – Ask questions about a document or instruct AI Assist to analyze it in a certain way. Chat conversations are saved in the chat history.
- Chat with Coded Segments – Ask questions about a specific set of coded segments or instruct AI Assist to analyze these segments in a certain way. Chat conversations are saved in the chat history.
Additional features
- Explain this – Creates a short explanation of an unfamiliar term or phrase in your data. The explanation is saved as an in-document memo.
