Importing your MAXQDA Tailwind project into MAXQDA

You can continue your analysis in MAXQDA by opening your MAXQDA Tailwind project file with MAXQDA. Here's how to do it:

1. Export your project from Tailwind

1. Hover over your project and click the More Options icon next to its description.
2. Select Export Project for MAXQDA.
3. Tailwind will package your project (this may take a few seconds).

2. Save the export file

1. When your system's save dialog appears, choose where you want to save the exported file (.mxtail format)

3. Open the project with MAXQDA

1. Launch MAXQDA on your computer.
2. On the start screen, click Open.
3. Navigate to the .mxtail file you just saved and open it.

What gets imported into MAXQDA?

When you import your Tailwind project into MAXQDA:

• Documents become documents.
• Topics become codes. Documents are automatically coded based on the document-topic-summaries created in MAXQDA Tailwind. References to paragraphs in the Summary Grid summaries are used to determine the coded segments. If there are conflicts between codings, the longest one is applied.
• Reports are imported as documents in a new document group called "Reports." Each report becomes a separate document with its name preserved, and references are updated to point to the correct locations in your data files.
• Summary Tables become summary tables.
• Topic and Document Summaries appear as memos attached to your documents or codes.

All summaries are included automatically so that you can continue your analysis seamlessly.
