Optional Use
AI Assist is an optional MAXQDA add-on, requiring license holders to make a deliberate choice for its activation. By prioritizing user choice and institutional discretion, we aim to support the integrity of academic practices, allowing institutions to maintain control over AI technology adoption.
Customization and Modification
AI Assist clearly labels every memo, summary, or paraphrase it generates for easy identification and review. You can customize the content’s language, length, and format or edit an AI Assist-generated response as needed. This adaptability allows you to tailor your use of AI to your research workflow.

Secure MAXQDA Account Hosting
Your MAXQDA user accounts and AI Assist-related requests are managed separately on AWS servers in the EU. This separation ensures that AI Assist data from user requests cannot be easily tied to personal identities, providing an extra layer of security.
Encrypted Data Storage & Transmission
Your data is safeguarded at rest and in transit. When you submit a request using AI Assist, your data is securely transferred using SSL/TLS 1.3 encryption. At rest, your data is stored in EU-based servers with industry-leading security measures in place.
Careful Selection of External Service Providers
Our AI-powered features are managed by our trusted sub-contractors who implement state-of-the-art security and privacy measures. When transferring your data to these providers, we ensure no personally identifiable information is shared beyond the data you requested AI to process.
