MAXQDA Serendipity allows you to retrieve and explore random segments from your retrieved data. It is located within the "Retrieved Segments" window.
How to use Serendipity
- Retrieve segments
- In order to be able to use Serendipity, you must first retrieve segments in the "Retrieved Segments" window.
- If you do not know how to retrieve segments, learn how to do it here:Activation: The Principle of Segment Retrieval & The "Retrieved Segments" window.
- Activate MAXQDA Serendipity
- Locate the
Serendipity icon in the "Retrieved Segments" window toolbar.
- Click the Serendipity icon and a dialog box will pop up. Here you can choose how many random segments to retrieve, as seen in the image below.
- Use the stepper button to select between 1 and 3 segments.
- Click OK to run the random search or Cancel to quit the process.
Review the randomly selected segments
After clicking OK, the "Overview of Coded Segments" window will pop up, listing the number of randomly selected segments you have chosen, as illustrated below:
