Mathematics Education, Qualitative Data Analysis

Experience

I am a mathematics teacher working at a public school under the Ministry of National Education in Turkey and hold a Ph.D. in Mathematics Education, which I completed in March 2025. My doctoral research focused on teacher noticing and mathematical discourse, and I used MAXQDA extensively for the qualitative analysis of classroom video recordings, interviews, and written reflections. In the methodology chapter, I provided a detailed explanation of how MAXQDA supported each stage of the analysis. I frequently use MAXQDA features such as MAXMaps, Code Matrix Browser, and Smart Coding Tool, and apply them in both academic research and project-based settings. In addition to my personal and academic use, I am actively involved in professional educational networks. I serve on the Organizing Committee of EDUCongress (educongress.org), an international education conference platform that brings together educators, researchers, and practitioners from around the world. Furthermore, I am the founder of MEGA – Mathematics Education Growth Network, a community of around 40 researchers and teachers in Turkey. This initiative creates free content, offers professional development workshops, and supports mathematics teachers nationwide. In just five months, our Instagram page @matematikegitimigelisimagi has reached nearly 10,000 followers. We are currently working toward institutionalizing this initiative as a non-profit organization. I believe this wide-reaching network will also help expand awareness and use of MAXQDA among educators and researchers in Turkey.
