Coding in Qualitative Research: Your Questions Answered
After an overwhelmingly popular webinar on challenges in qualitative data analysis, we heard from you — and there was much more to discuss. This follow-up session brings together four experts from the Qualitative and Interpretive Community of MethodsNet for a dedicated Q&A on coding in qualitative research.
The session opens with a short methods input (30 min) before opening the floor for 60 minutes of open discussion. Bring your questions on choosing and applying coding approaches, managing complex datasets, strengthening interpretive credibility, and making your analytic process transparent and traceable. We will also explore how to align the coding process to specific methodological frameworks — including thematic analysis, qualitative content analysis, grounded theory, and more.
Our panel features the co-convenors of the Qualitative and Interpretive Community of MethodsNet:
- Anka Kekez-Kostro, Assistant Professor of Public Policy and Governance, Faculty of Political Science, University of Zagreb
- Lorena Ortiz Cabrero, PhD Candidate (FNRS Aspirante), UCLouvain
- Tamara Pataki, Team Lead Community Relations, VERBI Software
- Ana Petek, Associate Professor, Faculty of Political Science, University of Zagreb
Whether you attended the first session or are joining for the first time, this is a space to think through the messier, more practical sides of qualitative analysis — together.
