Tips & Extras
1 Cost free transcription software f4 – quick and easy transcription
f4 transcribes audio data such as interviews or dictation. Its main functions include variable playback speed, rewind interval and operation via the f4 key or a footswitch from any computer program (e.g. Word). New functions include the sync-mode and time-marks. The sync-mode is used when proofreading or analyzing a transcription. By using automatically or manually placed time-markers, which are added to the text, you can automatically “scroll along” with the appropriate part of the recording. Time-markers are an important tool for orientation within a transcript, allowing for rapid consultation of the original source. Activating a time-marker in the text will lead to the audio data being played at that particular point. This function works in f4 and almost all other programs (such as Word and MAXQDA 2007).

Extra services for MAXQDA
1 Stoplists for MAXDictio

As a free service we provide some pre-configured stop-lists. The lists can be downloaded and used as MAXDictio stop-lists. To do so, simply select “Stop-List” from the MAXDictio menu and click “Open”. Then select the appropriate stop-list (e.g. “Pronouns”). If you wish to add another stop-list, click on “Add” and select the respective stop-list (e.g. “Prepositions”). As soon as you are satisfied with your stop-list, you are able to create a word frequency list of your texts without the list being crowded with unwanted words. This will allow a more precise search. |
