MAXQDA 24 crashes when importing SRT on Windows 11

05.03.2024, 22:40

The issue is as in the subject line: MAXQDA 24 on Windows keeps crashing whenever I try to import an srt file.

This issue never occurred in MAXQDA 2022, and I still experience no issue in MAXQDA 2022.

For the context, here are the things I have tried and corresponding results:
- Import an srt file with timestamps -> Crashed
- Imported an empty srt file (i.e. no text at all) -> Crashed
- Imported a video first and linked an srt transcript -> Crashed
- Only imported a video file -> Did not crash
- Imported a txt file that had the exact same content as the srt file that caused the crash -> Did not crash
- Ran MAXQDA 24 on Windows 10 -> Did not crash
- Tried two different licenses (Free trial license vs. My institution's license) -> Both crashed
- Tried different importing workflow (e.g., Clicking the + sign in the Document pane vs. Importing using the menu buttons) -> Both crashed
- Deleted and reinstalled MAXQDA24 -> Crashed

Am I the only one experiencing this issue? Please comment below if anyone else is experiencing this or knows a solution to this. Thanks so much in advance!

P.S. I wanted to attach the transcript files that I used to replicate the issue, but it says the srt extension is not allowed.

Version: MAXQDA 24
System: Windows 11

Hi, I also got a crash while trying to load a simple SRT file that goes like this:
1
00:00:00,620 --> 00:00:02,793
Speaker 1: blablabla

2
00:00:02,833 --> 00:00:04,774
Speaker 2: blablabla

Thank you so much! Please keep us posted. Using SRT is important for my research group because it helps us format the transcripts in a way that suits our research objectives. Looking forward to hearing back!
