MAXQDA Update 27.0

Turn a long, flat code list into a structured Code System. Select the codes you want to organize, choose a language, and optionally add project information or instructions to guide the grouping.
AI Assist suggests two alternative groupings with new parent codes. Apply your preferred option directly to the Code System or save it as a code set to review later. Start it from the AI Assist tab or by right-clicking the root of the Code System.

Run AI Assist on a language model hosted on your own computer or server, so no data leaves your infrastructure. Ideal when ethics boards, data protection requirements, or sensitive data such as hospital records rule out cloud-based AI.
Connect to any OpenAI-compatible endpoint (e.g., Ollama, llama.cpp, or LM Studio) in the MAXQDA preferences and switch models for different tasks. Speed and quality depend on your hardware and the chosen model. Available with AI Assist Premium.

Short-form video shapes much of today’s public discourse. Paste the URL of a YouTube Shorts clip to import its automatic transcript in any available language, plus user comments for analysis.

AI Assist Models: Cloud-based AI Assist features now run on the latest Google Gemini models for faster, higher-quality results.
Document Tooltips: Tooltips can now display any document variable, not just favorite variables.
Empty States: Document Map and Code Map now show first-step guidance when you start a new map.
Timestamps: A progress indicator in the Document Browser sidebar shows how far a media file has played.
Document Browser Sidebar: Coding stripes and the paragraph/line view have been visually refined.

Fixes an issue where clicking a row in the Overview of Coded Segments highlighted the wrong segment in the Document Browser.
Fixes an issue where “Export Support File” did not create the support.zip file correctly.
Fixes a performance issue in the Media Player where scrolling or selecting clips in very long media files (more than 10 hours) was not smooth.
Fixes an issue on macOS where the memo icon of a newly created document group memo did not appear immediately.
Fixes an issue in table outputs with a code tree, such as the Code Matrix Browser, where the rows of the tree column were slightly misaligned with the rest of the table.
Fixes an issue in PDF exports where coded segments were not highlighted in their code color, even though “Display coded segments” was selected.
Fixes an issue where using Search and Replace in coded documents shifted the boundaries of existing coded segments after the project was reopened.
Fixes an issue in AI Reports where the displayed maximum number of documents changed depending on how many documents the project contained.
