Stop lists are saved as normal text files and can therefore be opened and edited in any Office program. The most suitable program for this would be Excel.
Open the stop list by selecting the option File > Open in Excel. The file type must be changed to “All Files.”
In Excel, you can add new words to the list or edit the existing list, and then save it. You don’t have to bother sorting the list, as MAXQDA will automatically arrange it in alphabetical order when it is opened there.
Stop lists can be employed for multiple projects
simultaneously. It is recommendable to modularize them, which means you could
create stop lists of certain types (for instance: conjunctions) which can be
used universally. Then the single modules can be merged in the “Stop list”
window, so that you can create a list that is appropriate for the current
project (button Add stoplist ).
