Batch Assigning Document Variable Values?

17.05.2023, 20:35

I've got well over 1000 documents that are organized into 9 Folders, each with 15 subfolders. The 9 folders are geographic regions. I'd like assign a document variable [region] to each document. What is the most efficient way to do this?

I can't see a way to assign multiple documents with the same variable value at one time. I can't imagine going through all 1000+ document to assign a variable value for every single one.

Any help would be appreciated. Thx.

Hello,

thank you for your question! Maybe this work around can help you:
- Open "Variables > Data editor"
- Export the data table from MAXQDA into Microsoft Excel
- Use Excel to fill out the data (e.g. by dragging information to quickly fill up a column)
- Save the sheet and import the file back into MAXQDA

I hope this helps!
