MAXQDA software on Microsoft Surface laptop

I want to know if I can download the MAXQDA software on my Microsoft surface laptop. Also, should I update my software to MAXQDA 2022 because my study is already done on the MAXQDA 2020 software?

Different but related question: I was wondering whether to upgrade to Maxqda 2022 but work with a lot of autocoding and resulting text segments from PDFs. My team only has the 2020 version and I was a little bit concerned when I read that "Text codes in PDF documents are converted to image codes." - does that mean the text is no longer searchable when I transfer back to a 2020 version? Thanks!

Hi dlbyrd65,

Thank you for your question.

From what I understand, your current operating system is Windows 10 (64 bit), which meets the technical requirements of MAXQDA. So installing and working with MAXQDA should work fine on your Microsoft Surface laptop. You can start working with a trial version of MAXQDA 2022. Download it here:

To convert your MAXQDA 2020 project file please follow these steps:
- Start MAXQDA and select Open Project in the start window.
- If the MAXQDA project is greyed out, change the file type in your Windows dialog window to the desired version of MAXQDA.
- Select the project you wish to open and click "open"

View the detailed instruction for project conversion here:

If you have any further questions on the use of MAXQDA, please feel free to contact our support team via:

Best regards
