Filtering open text by variable

17.07.2018, 22:12

Hi,

Am new to MAXQDA and still learning.

I am currently coding open text comments of a survey. The open text is an expansion of the previous variable which is a closed question "why did you choose the above option?"

Is there a way to filter or organise the open text by the previous variable?

I am sure I am missing something.

TIA.

Hi Richard,

thank you for your question and welcome to the MAXQDA Forum! Assuming that you used this function to process your survey:

https://www.maxqda.com/help-max18/import/importing-text-from-a-tablespreadsheet-e-g-answers-to-open-questions

You can use the "Interactive Quote Matrix" (tab "Mixed Methods") to display coded segments sorted by variable value (each column will represent one condition thats formulated in regard to your chosen variable(s)):

Is this what you are looking for?
