Import Word files: footnotes?

24.04.2018, 14:59

Dear all
How can I import a word document with footnotes? I've just tried but it seems that MAXqda does not carry over footnotes. Any solution?
Thank you very much , bests

Dear Daniela,

indeed, since Word-files do not have a static layout, there aren't any fixed pages, which is why the footnotes don't get imported (I guess). The only solution that comes to my mind is to convert the word-document to a PDF-file. That way the footnotes should be imported.

Kind regards,

Great thank you very much, it works!
I noticed that with PDFs files the function "edit" does not work. Are there other features that do not work with PDF files in Maxqda (eg edit, coding, memos, merging.. etc)
Now I am working on interviews transcriptions (word documents): what should I take into account if I convert these files to PDFs?
Thank you very much
