Have you ever wished you could analyze webpages in MAXQDA? While you can easily import a wide range of file formats, like Word documents, tables, PDF files and more, HTML files can’t be imported directly. This doesn’t mean you can’t analyze webpages, though, and you’re not even limited to webpage text. All visual content can be analyzed as well.
All you need to do is to print or save the webpage as a PDF file.
On a Windows computer
On a Windows computer you can do this with the help of free programs like PDFCreator or a webbased PDF document creater like Web2PDF. Depending on the browser you use, there is probably also an add-on that you can install and then use to save webpages to PDF.
On a Mac computer
If you are using Safari on a Mac computer it is very easy to save webpages to PDF, as this option is built into Safari itself. Go to “File > Export as PDF…” and save the PDF document to your computer.
Once you have converted the webpage, it can be imported into MAXQDA for analysis. You will see it in MAXQDA exactly as you would in your internet browser, and you can code both text and visual elements.
