Mac MAXQDA11 Lexical Coding Paragraph in PDF not working

31.10.2016, 20:08

I need urgent assistance with coding a whole paragraph after conducting a lexical search. Based on the tutorials and guidelines the process I need to follow is:
1. Import the PDF Document
2. Conduct a Lexical Search (Analysis - Lexical Search)
3. Run the search and review the results
4. Select "Autocode selected search results"
5. Select "Paragraph" and select "Autocode"

I only get single words that automatically selected throughout the PDF document. What am I missing?

Hello Borries,

Many thanks for your post. In MAXQDA 11 autocoding of PDF paragraphs is not supported due to the fact, that PDF is a document format that has been created for layout task and does not contain "paragraph" information. So only the search item will be autocoded.

If you try out the new version of MAXQDA 12 (www.maxqda.com/demo) you will see that we have implemented autocoding of sentences for PDF documents, which is usually sufficient and furthermore, more practical than paragraphs.

Hope this information helps, best regards on behalf of the MAXQDA team,
Stefan

Thanks Stefan.
I need paragraph coding for sourcing information from multiple sources. I will find alternative solution but revert back to Maxqda for other features.
