Installing max qda for mac laptop

Postby Stephanie iriana on 09.12.2010, 19:42

Dear team and other members,

Hi, I have a problem to use Max qda trial version with my Mac laptop. I have installed Parallels software program
to my Mac laptop as you suggested, and also the Max qda demo version. But how do these two programs connected?
I don't know the further steps to start using Max qda after I've downloaded Parallels. Please share your suggestions
and experiences particularly from the Mac laptop users. Thanks a lot! Your help is much appreciated.

Kindest thought,

Hi Stephanie,

you need a Microsoft Windows installation on your parallels first.

After you have installed Windows, you can install MAXQDA on it and start it.
Please be aware that there are some problems with MAXQDA and the latest parallels version 6, which we are already trying to solve: You can't use memos in MAXQDA regularly.

I installed Windows 7 through Bootcamp and I think it works much better that way. It runs completely naturally as an operating system. The only downside is, you have to restart to boot into Windows 7, but it is TOTALLY WORTH IT. You get the full experience, while Parallels and Fusion tend to have little bugs that are a hassle for users and developers alike. My suggestions is always to partition your hard drive with 30GB of space for Windows 7, then do a full Windows 7 install. I love it. (Plus, you can still access all the files on your Mac partition while in your Windows partition. It's really great, I promise.)
