MAXQDA for Linux

In my workplace, PCs are increasingly working on Linux systems (Ubuntu in particular) and this tendency seems to be accelerated in the near future.
Do you (developers) have any plan to develop a Linux version of MAXQDA?
Or, as you note with regards Mac, is there any possibility to run MAXQDA on Linux systems?

We are not planning a linux version yet, but are testing to run the windows version on MACs and on LINUX systems.

Any progress on the Linux front? Can you get it to work? When I run mine through wine (Linux Mint), I can open MAXQDA, but the programme blocks as soon as I have chosen as file to open. Am I doing something wrong? Hope you got it working on another distribution or in another way!

sorry to say but neither wine nor Crossover Linux (commercial version of wine) can run MAXQDA. The result is always the same in different distributions (tested on Ubuntu and Arch Linux).

I just tried to run the demo on my linux dualboot system using Sun Virtualbox and although the programme itself seems to be working fine, I can find none of my texts or codes. Does this use some sort of special windows plugin or could you think of ways to get Maxqda10 working through Virtualbox?

I'm using MAXQDA10 in VirtualBox (WinXP guest), too and everything works as expected. What Windows version do you have installed and what version of VB do you use?

I'm running Uberstudent (an Ubuntu version specifically for academic research) and have a win xp inside the virtualbox (I downloaded it from the Ubuntu repositories, so presume it's quite a new version). Could it be I don't have windows fonts installed? You could contact the maker of uberstudent (at uberstudent.org) as I asked him the same question and he's trying to figure out how to get MAXQDA working as well. Cheers!

As with MAXQDA 2007 the only way to run MAXQDA 10 under Linux is using a Windows installation in a Virtual Machine.

A very good solutions offers VirtualBox. For installation please refer to their documentation or the ones you can find for your specific distributions.

pascoa341, since the installation of Windows in VirtualBox is the same as without, it actually seems to be a problem with Windows itself. Can you please send me a screenshot that shows the problem? (thomas<dot>ebert<at>maxqda<dot>de).

Sorry, it took a while to respond. With the latest virtualbox and Maxqda10 everything is working!
