RIS Import Questions

Is it possible to list an RIS import by document title instead of author and date?
Is it possible to connect an RIS import to a Pdf document?
Is it possible to search a PDF document for a certain word?
If I can connect an RIS import to a certain PDF document, is it possible to do a word search within the RIS folder that would also search the PDF document?
Is there a way when you read a PDF document to hi light the actual selection, instead of just seeing the code to the left of the document?

Thanks

Hi dmarkwa,

Many thanks for your post.

Is it possible to list an RIS import by document title instead of author and date?

No, by default Author and Year will be used as document title.
Is it possible to connect an RIS import to a Pdf document?

One possibility is to use document links to connect segments of a RIS import to segments of a PDF document. Example: hightlight the author in the RIS import with the mouse, right click on the selection and choose "Document link". Then highlight a short target in the PDF document, let's say the title, right click on the selection and choose "Document link" from the context menu again.
Is it possible to search a PDF document for a certain word?

Yes, via the function "Analysis > Lexical search"
If you use MAXDictio it may be easy to perform multiple searches as once by using a word dicitionary or just by using the Word frequency tools.
If I can connect an RIS import to a certain PDF document, is it possible to do a word search within the RIS folder that would also search the PDF document?

You can create Document Sets (some kind of folders for documents) for example by using the document variables. Please see here for more information on Activation by variables:
http://www.maxqda.com/support/help/maxq ... rtheco.htm
and on Document Sets:
http://www.maxqda.com/support/help/maxq ... ntsets.htm
After creating document sets you can use "MAXDictio > Word frequency" to differentiate search results for Document Sets.
Is there a way when you read a PDF document to hilight the actual selection, instead of just seeing the code to the left of the document?

Yes: right click in the grey area left to the document and choose the option "Color-coded text".
