License Details – Choose the license that’s best for you
Single User License
The Single User License is our standard license. It may be used by one person. He or she may install the license on two machines (PCs or laptops). Both installations may not be used simultaneously. Under no circumstances they may be used by different persons.
Here are the system requirements.
Portable License
A fully functional version of our QDA software that you can take with you – wherever you go. The portable MAXQDA license is installed on a USB flash drive. You can start MAXQDA straight from this USB flash drive on any compatible Windows computer you connect it to.
This gives you the flexibility to analyze your data with MAXQDA wherever you are: at home, at work, on a library computer, or in an internet cafe in the streets of Delhi. Just insert your USB flash drive with your portable license into any Windows computer and get started. If you are the type of person who does not want to be limited to one or two computers, this is the license for you!
Here are the system requirements.
Network License (5 licenses minimum)
Network Licenses are serverbased licenses, which allow the simultaneous use of the software in the amout of the number of purchased licenses (starting with 5 licenses). The total access may be twice as high as the number of purchased licenses (concurrent / floating use). Network licenses need to be set up and managed with our license management tool MAXServer. This requires the server PC to have a Windows environment (Windows XP or newer).

Managing Network Licenses:
- MAXServer – the license management tool: MAXQDA network licenses can be managed with the program MAXServer. With MAXServer, you always have all important information about your MAXQDA network licenses in one spot, and you can easily activate or extend your licenses without installing MAXQDA.
- MAXAdmin – the remote access tool: MAXAdmin is our tool to remotely access MAXServer. This way you can access MAXServer from another PC. They both have the same user interface, but MAXAdmin has less features than MAXServer and is password protected.
- Managing PCs/user: Management of PCs/user is done with a simple list, in which the PCs/user with the appropriate permissions are automatically entered during their first use of the license. If you want to cancel their permission to access the license, you can remove PCs/users from this list with a single click.
- MAXQDA-Installation: When installing MAXQDA on the user PCs, you can select the properties file with the correct configuration settings for your network license. A properties/settings template is provided for you when you download MAXServer, so that you only need to enter the appropriate license information.
